Kathmandu sits in a high valley surrounded by the Himalayas, a city that feels untouched by time. Pashupatinath Temple draws Hindu pilgrims performing sacred rituals along the Bagmati River. Boudhanath Stupa's massive mandala dominates the skyline—pilgrims circumambulate it endlessly, prayer wheels spinning. Swayambhunath Stupa perches on a hill offering city views. The Durbar Square is a UNESCO site with ornate temples and the royal palace. The city's pace is slower, its spirituality palpable. The food is exceptional: dal bhat, momos, and Himalayan herbs flavoring everything. Despite earthquakes, Kathmandu retains its mystical spirit.
